Ever since I was a little girl, the thought of visiting Ireland has stirred my imagination. From the lush, rolling green hills to the charming folklore of faeries, the Emerald Isle has always held a magical allure. It’s hard to believe, but soon, I’ll be stepping onto Irish soil for the very first time, and I couldn’t be more thrilled!
This incredible journey isn’t just about Ireland; it’s a whirlwind adventure that begins in Liverpool, England, takes us through the scenic beauty of Wales, and continues to Northern Ireland and Ireland itself. As if that weren’t enough, my friend Tiffany Garvin and I are also making a stop in Istanbul, Turkey. We’ll even get to explore a little bit of that stunning city with its rich history and vibrant culture. The anticipation of discovering new places, immersing myself in different cultures, and seeing the landscapes I’ve only dreamed of is overwhelming in the best possible way.
The Joy of Anticipation
One of the greatest joys of life is having something to look forward to. For me, this trip is a culmination of years of dreaming and planning. It’s a reminder that expectations and dreams are as much a part of the journey as the destination itself. The weeks leading up to this adventure have been filled with planning, imagining, and excited conversations with Tiffany about what we’ll see, do, and experience.
Expectations can be a beautiful thing. They give us hope and a sense of direction. Of course, they’re not always met in the way we imagine, but that’s part of the magic too. Sometimes reality has a way of surpassing even our wildest dreams, and I’m holding onto that hope as we prepare for this trip.
As a child, Ireland felt like a far-off fantasy. I would read stories set in misty forests and ancient castles and picture myself walking those same paths. I imagined hearing the melodies of traditional Irish music echoing through the air and feeling the warmth of a cozy Irish pub on a chilly day with a bowl of soup and a glass of water. Now, that dream is about to become a reality, and it’s a surreal, almost pinch-me moment.
Then, as an adult, I let my love for Ireland ease into my novel, In The Dark, where my leads have strong ties to Ireland and even go there. I hope we’ll make it to some of the locations, but if not, I know this won’t be my last trip.
Dreams like this remind us of who we are at our core. They’re tied to the things that make our hearts beat a little faster and our spirits soar. For me, Ireland represents history, beauty, and a connection to something deeply meaningful. The opportunity to visit feels like a gift, and I’m grateful beyond words.
What makes this trip even more special is sharing it with Tiffany. Together, we’ll create memories that will last a lifetime. Whether we’re marveling at the cliffs of Moher, exploring a castle or cathedral, or simply enjoying a cup of soup, I know this trip will be unforgettable.
As the days count down, I’m soaking in every moment of excitement and anticipation. I’ve been reading about the places we’ll visit, jotting down notes about must-see spots, and dreaming about the stories we’ll gather along the way. This trip isn’t just a vacation; it’s a celebration of dreams fulfilled, friendship, and the incredible joy of looking forward to something beautiful.
Life is full of moments to savor, and this journey is a reminder to dream big, plan boldly, and embrace the adventure. Ireland, here I come!
